Amber Howarth joins Blue Heron Consulting as a veterinary student intern. She’s currently helping design a unique externship program for veterinary students interested in practice ownership. The externship will provide hands-on experience in a hospital setting allowing participants to learn more about practice finance, management, marketing, communication and staff leverage through the assessment of private hospitals. Additionally, she’s working with the Blue Heron team under a federal grant to identify management and financial ‘practices’ of successful rural veterinary hospitals.
Amber was born and raised in Arizona where she attended Arizona State University for her Biological Sciences degree with a minor in business. From there she was accepted into and attends Washington State University as a third-year veterinary student. At Washington State University she’s in involved in several clubs including: Shelter Medicine Club as the Treasurer, Canine Club as the President, Disaster Club as the Vice President, One Health Club as the Fundraising Chair, and Veterinary Law and Ethics as the Secretary. Her interests include hiking, horseback riding, crafting, and spending time with family and friends.
