Dr. Darren Taul grew up on a family farm in west central Kentucky. After attending Western Kentucky University, he followed his brother (and sister-in-laws) footsteps moving on to Auburn University College of Veterinary medicine graduating in 1996. There he met his wife, Stacey, also a veterinarian and practice owner.
Dr. Taul started his career as an associate, then partner, and within three years purchased his own hospital. Until recently, he has been a single doctor practitioner at an AAHA-accredited, companion animal predominant practice, Lancaster Veterinary Hospital. His passion goes beyond simply providing excellent veterinary care and promoting the human animal bond. He is also passionate about the veterinary profession and helping veterinarians and practice teams become successful at achieving their personal and professional goals. He brings experiences of being both a client of Blue Heron as well as, most recently, a consultant and is an active member of AAHA/VMG (veterinary study groups).
Darren is also on the board of directors of the American Animal Hospital Association currently serving as vice-president and is the incoming president-elect. His AAHA activities also include being a management learning facilitator for the Adventure CE Pack Trip and the AAHA conference. Dr Taul’s other involvements include: chairman of the Board for Heritage Hospice, Farmers National Bank Community Service Board, emergency medical respondent for KHELPS, and previous vice president of the Garrard County Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Taul is an avid outdoorsman (whenever time allows) and enjoys spending time with his family, golf, horseback riding, and hiking (particularly in the mountains). He and his wife live on a small farm in central Kentucky with their horses, dog, and cats.
