Small Animal Associate Veterinarian
Practice Great Medicine. Enjoy Coastal Living. Build Your Future.
If you’re looking for a practice where your voice is heard, your growth is prioritized, and your work-life balance is genuinely respected, Whistle Veterinary Clinic may be exactly what you’ve been searching for.
Whistle Veterinary Clinic in Anacortes, WA is a privately owned, multi-doctor practice known for its compassionate care, hands-on approach, and supportive, low-drama team culture. As a growing startup, we’ve built a strong foundation while staying adaptable, allowing us to continuously improve and evolve without the constraints of corporate ownership. With no weekends, flexible scheduling, and a loyal, engaged client base, you’ll have the space to practice high-quality medicine while maintaining a fulfilling life outside of work.
We are hiring proactively as we continue to grow and plan for the future. Long-term, we would love to find the right veterinarian who may have an interest in future ownership opportunities, though there is absolutely no rush, as our priority is finding someone who aligns with our team and values. We welcome both experienced veterinarians and new graduates, especially those interested in surgery, and provide strong mentorship and support to help you succeed.
Why Work for Whistle Veterinary Clinic?
- Practice High-Quality, Hands-On Medicine: We pride ourselves on providing personalized, one-on-one care and maintaining consistency across our DVM team, which builds trust with our clients and allows for better patient outcomes. Our clients are respectful, compliant, and truly value our recommendations, giving you the ability to practice medicine without unnecessary barriers.
- A Supportive, Stable, and Collaborative Team: With a 4:1 support staff-to-doctor ratio, including skilled LVTs, trained assistants, and a hands-on manager, you’ll always feel supported. Our low turnover reflects the strong culture we’ve built—one centered on open communication, transparency, and mutual respect. We hold regular staff meetings, DVM check-ins, and leadership touchpoints to ensure everyone stays aligned, and we’re quick to implement changes when something can be improved.
- Structured Surgery & Efficient Scheduling: We offer designated surgery days each week, with an average of 3 surgeries per day, performed in the mornings followed by appointments in the afternoons. Each doctor has a consistent surgery day, and we prefer candidates who are comfortable with both surgery and dentistry (though we’re open to discussion). Appointment times are 30 minutes, with a 1.5-hour protected lunch/callback block, allowing you to practice thoroughly without feeling rushed.
- Privately Owned, Forward-Thinking, and Always Improving: In a market where many practices have transitioned to corporate ownership, we’ve intentionally remained independent, allowing us to pivot quickly, implement new ideas, and prioritize what’s best for our team and patients. Our facility is consistently praised for its cleanliness and organization, and we’ve invested in modern equipment including digital and dental radiography, mobile ultrasound, electrocautery, and advanced surgical monitoring. We’re also continuously evolving, incorporating tools like ScribbleVet and expanding our use of fear-free, low-stress, and feline-friendly techniques.
